The Wild Coast Sun Country Club is situated South of Port Edward towards the Eastern Cape on the R61 about an hour and twenty minutes from Durban. With the Wild Coast Sun Hotel and Casino as well as the Wild Coast waterpark situated on the property there is plenty for a family to do after a round of golf.

Wild Coast has some of the more diverse holes I have seen on one course. From hitting over gorges to hitting over rivers while trying to negotiate some tight fairways and slopes, Wild Coast is a challenge for any golfer. The variation certainly kept my interest up and it is exciting to see what the next hole has in store.

My favorite holes:

The 1st is a downhill par 4 stroke 1 with a green that is out of view from the teebox. An iron off the tee with leave a wedge into this green that is guarded by the lagoon on one side and is well bunkered on the other. The view is sensational from the tee box and is a magical way to start off your round. The 1st is a challenge to start and is a sign of things to come as Wild Coast is a tough beast on her day!

The 18th has you hitting over the Mtamvuna river to finish just under the clubhouse. Just the sheer fun of this hole has it rated of one of my two favorite holes on the course. The hole doesn’t play long and at 348M the boys who bash a ball can have a dip at the green. The green is well protected by many a bunker so any approach shot has to be carefully thought out. All in all the 18th is a wonderful finishing hole and a perfect way to end a great golf course.

Wild Coast will test your golf and will certainly test your temperament! I have heard stories of drivers being hit into par 3’s when the wind blows so if lady luck is against you, you will feel her wrath, especially on the back nine and that ever present gorge!

The views that one comes across on this course, coupled with the smart layout makes it one to tick off on your golfing list. The South Coast of KZN has some truly wonderful courses and should be a must travel destination for any golfer.
